Gray Water Quality and
Quantity In order to select the proper gray water treatment system that
effectively treat the generated gray water , the quantity and quality of the
gray water was determined by conducting 6- months monitoring program. Gray
water from several household sources; Kitchen sink, showers and bath tubs,
laundries, floor washing and moping water was quantified and qualified. The
monitoring program covered 6 households in Abu Al Farth village in the Badai. The monitoring program revealed that the gray water is generated at
rate varies from 150 L/day to 200L/day depending on the family size, and the
amount of the generated gray water represents about 30% of the total
consumptive water. The quality of the gray water highly varies from source to
source and is highly loaded with BOD5, COD, Suspended Solids, Fecal Coliform
and E.coli. The high contamination levels of the generated gray water highly
depend on the current behavior of household occupants; washing the babies
after removing the diapers on the sink resulted in high e.coli and fecal
colifrom in the gray water. Greywater Quality In The Some Households In The
Project Area.
