About ESTC

 
 

History

 
 

ESTC was inaugurated in 1981 as a token of friendship between the Japanese and the Jordanian people through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Royal Scientific Society (RSS). Now it is one of the technical centers comprising RSS. In 2007 the Standards and Calibration division of ESTC became the Jordan National Metrology Institute (JNMI).

 
     
 

Technical Fields of Work (Divisions)

 
 

1. Research and Development division (R&D): where real design of utility systems takes place. It boasts of a string of ground-breaking projects in various fields, not least in the local industry.

2. Testing and Quality Control division (T&QC): which verifies the compliance of electrical products to national and international standards in cooperation with Bureau Veritas (BV) through the Middle East Laboratory Testing and Technical Services (MELTTS) company. (www.meltts.com.jo )

3. Biomedical Maintenance division: which works in the biomedical field for the public and private sectors, in cooperation between RSS and the Ministry of Health (MOH), through the Directorate of Biomedical Engineering (DBE). ( www.dbe.gov.jo )

4. Supply and Follow Up division : which manages and carries out purchasing of supplies and spare parts required by ESTC divisions, as well as supervising and executing the center’s budget.

 
  Mission and Goals  
 
  • Mission: To create technical infrastructure and capabilities in electronic engineering that would facilitate establishing a competitive industrial base in Jordan.
  • Goals:
 
 
    1. Cultivating local electronic design skills through creating and developing engineering designs to maximize the added value of local industry.
    2. Rendering professional technical services through locally and internationally accredited laboratories to help developing local community sectors, through Management and Maintenance of Medical Equipment and Testing and Quality Control services.
    3. Dissemination of technological know-how through specialized training in different electronic fields.
