  Design and Manufacturing Division  
 
  • Designing and manufacturing different types of molds, such as plastic injection molds, rubber-forming molds, die casting dies, sheet metal forming dies, machines and mechanical parts.

  • Conducting different tests on the green sand used by local foundries.
  • Carrying out casting simulation using AFS solidification system software.
  • Providing technical consultations in casting.

  • Conducting technical training courses in mold design and manufacturing
  • Providing technical consultations in design and manufacturing.
  • Carrying out studies and applied scientific research related to design and manufacturing.
  • Conducting practical training programs for the engineering students of Princes Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) and the Vocational Training Centre Students.
 
     
  Metallurgical Engineering and Measurement Division  
 
  • Carrying out quality control for locally produced and imported materials and metallic products to determine their degree of conformity with national and international specifications.
  • Selecting appropriate metals and alloys for various industrial applications i.e. alloys for mould production.
  • Providing technical consultations in the following fields
  • Studying and determining causes of mechanical fracture resulting from overload corrosion or manufacturing defects for the various mechanical parts.
  • Studying causes, analyzing results and finding solutions for chemical corrosion problems.
  • Selecting appropriate heat treatment method for various engineering parts used in machinery and tools.
  • Testing the thermal performance of boilers, space heaters and other heating and cooling equipment.
  • Evaluating imported and local made equipment in the local market.
  • Helping local industries in improving their products of heating boilers.
  • Conducting research and development for boiler industry in Jordan.
  • Offering services and consultations for the public and private sectors concerning designing and testing of welds.
  • Conducting applied research projects and introducing new methods in the field of welding technology.
  • Supervising welding works in projects and industrial installations locally and abroad.
  • Conducting necessary tests to qualify welding procedures and welders and prepare procedure specifications according to international standards.
  • Conducting training courses for engineers and technicians in the field of welding.
  • Conducting two and three-dimensional measurement using profile comparator and CMM.
  • Conducting roughness, flatness, and straightness measurement tests.
  • Calibrating CNC machines using Laser Doppler Displacement Meter (LDDM).
 
     
  Material Technology Division  
 
  • Routine quality control laboratory testing of physical, mechanical and thermal properties of polymeric materials and products.
  • Characterization of polymers.
  • Testing and supervision at factory site of locally manufactured products.
  • Assessment investigations for insurance-related claims.
  • Research and development activities related to environmental issues (Plastic waste recycling) and safety issues (Use of plastics in food packaging).
  • Carrying out destructive testing for metallic products.
  • Supervising and applying quality control on the production of metallic products through agreements with local manufacturers.
  • Evaluating the performance of aluminum windows.
  • Participating in setting national standards.
  • Offering services and consultations for the public and private sectors concerning designing and testing of welds.
  • Conducting applied research projects and introducing new methods in the field of welding technology.
  • Supervising welding works in projects and industrial installations locally and abroad.
  • Conducting necessary tests to qualify welding procedures and welders and prepare procedure specifications according to international standards.
 
     
  Non Destructive Testing and Radiation Protection Division (NDT & RP)  
 
  • Providing special services and technical consultations in the field of NDT.
  • NDT & RP is undergoing continuous Training and Qualification in NDT in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in accordance with the requirements of the International Standard ISO 9712.
  • Holding training courses to upgrade the capabilities of the engineers and technicians in the field of NDT, in accordance with international standards.
  • Participating with national committees in setting up NDT Jordanian Standards.
  • The Radiation Measurement and Calibration Laboratory conducts measurements of radionuclide contamination “radioactivity” in food and environmental samples working mainly on:
    1) Qualitative and quantitative analysis of radionuclides in environmental samples such as water, soil & Air, food, detergents, fertilizers, etc.
    2) Radiation Dose Measurement in work areas.
    3) Verification of shielding integrity in radiography and radiotherapy rooms.
    4) Calibration of Radiation Dose / Dose Rate Meters used in radiation protection activities.
    5) Consultations in practices related to radiation protection.
  • The Personal Dosimetry Laboratory measures the level of radiation to which all personnel working in this field are exposed. The laboratory also measures variations in background using environmental dosimeters.
  • The Personal Dosimetry Laboratory provides personal dosimetry services to radiation workers in Jordan at the national level, approx. 2200 workers in the various fields of applications using ionizing radiation are monitored four times a year.
 
     
  Corrosion Engineering Division  
 
  • Reducing maintenance cost due to corrosion in different industrial activities by choosing the right material which combat aggressive operating conditions.
  • Increasing the degree of awareness among engineers of the dangers and loses resulting from different types of corrosion failures which have direct and indirect effects on (people, environment, etc...) by choosing the appropriate protection systems.
  • Providing technical consultations to solve various corrosion problems in both (civil and military) sectors.
  • Conducting scientific researches to reach an optimum applicable conclusions for the occurrence of corrosion phenomena in the national industry.
  • Making Communications with international corrosion institutes in order to develop the abilities and updating information in the field of corrosion protection.
  • Cooperating with Jordanian universities and institutes by giving lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
